Academic Background

In August 2007 I finished studying a one year Masters of Philosophy in Engineering for Sustainable Development at the University of Cambridge. It is a professional practice Masters with two terms of coursework followed by a term of research. The following is a list of modules I studied:

  • Sustainable Development Contexts
  • Environment, Economic and Community Perspectives
  • Leading Change in Organisations
  • Engineering Implementation of Sustainable Development
  • Management of Technology and Innovation
  • Sustainable Water Engineering
  • Electricity and the Environment
  • Planning for Sustainable Development
  • Sustainability Trade and Environment

The focus of my dissertation was on mine closure and delivering sustainable outcomes through effective planning and stakeholder engagement.

In 2000 I graduated from the University of South Australia with a first class Honours degrees in Mining Engineering. My Honours project focused on underground mine design optimisation using Datamine software. I created the Multiple Pass Floating Stope Process, and subsequently presented a paper at the 2001 Strategic Mine Planning Conference in Perth.
